Outdoor energy equipment

Fabrication planned for weather, heat, service, and long-term interfaces

Energy equipment enclosures and mounts need a coordinated approach to corrosion, ingress, condensation, thermal behavior, grounding, and structural loads.

Capability Fabex scope Engineering checkpoint
Materials and thickness Selected for load, environment, corrosion system, weight, and joining Material and finish should be specified as a compatible corrosion system.
Environmental details Seams, gasket lands, drip edges, drainage, condensation paths, vents, and protected openings Ingress and condensation risks should be reviewed in the installed orientation.
Thermal provisions Passive vents, fan or exchanger interfaces, heat-spreader mounts, and service clearances Thermal performance requires validation with the customer equipment and duty cycle.
Heavy enclosure and mount capacity Reviewed from fabrication and lifting through transport and installation Lifting points and field mounting interfaces need stated loads and responsibility.
Traceability and testing Material, finish, weld, and inspection records defined per program Required reports and test ownership must be agreed before order release.

Environmental control

Review the enclosure in its installed environment

Orientation, exposure, heat load, drainage, service access, and mounting conditions shape the fabrication details.

1

Environment and load review

Confirm exposure, temperature, corrosion category, UV, water, dust, condensation, loads, lifting, and installation orientation.

Checkpoint

Design inputs and responsibility boundaries recorded.

2

Material and enclosure DFM

Review galvanic pairs, seams, drainage, gasket lands, vents, grounding, fasteners, coating, and field interfaces.

Checkpoint

Fabrication details support the intended corrosion and ingress system.

3

First-article verification

Inspect interfaces, welds, finish, hardware, masks, doors, gaskets, and agreed test features.

Checkpoint

Approval evidence completed before repeat production.

4

Traceable production

Retain material, finish, inspection, and revision evidence required by the program.

Checkpoint

Delivered equipment linked to the approved production record.

What changes your quoted cost

  • Corrosion system and pretreatment
  • Enclosure size and lifting features
  • Gaskets, vents, and thermal hardware
  • Weld and sealing requirements
  • Traceability, testing, and export packaging
  • Material grade and structural thickness

Typical production challenge

An outdoor energy enclosure may need corrosion, ingress, condensation, thermal, grounding, lifting, and service requirements coordinated.

Approach

Confirm the environment and loads, review material and enclosure DFM, verify the first article, and retain the required production records.

What you receive before release

Documented DFM findings, a proposed manufacturing route, quotation, and lead-time plan for your approval.

Energy equipment questions

New energy fabrication FAQs

Answers about outdoor corrosion, ingress, condensation, thermal design, and traceability.

How should outdoor corrosion protection be specified?+

State the substrate, pretreatment, coating system, color, thickness or performance requirement, exposure environment, dissimilar-metal contacts, edge treatment, and applicable test standard.

Can Fabex guarantee an IP rating for an enclosure?+

Fabex can fabricate the approved seams, openings, gasket lands, doors, and hardware. The rating applies only after the complete assembled enclosure is tested to the specified standard and configuration.

How is condensation handled inside an outdoor enclosure?+

The system may use drainage, vents, heaters, insulation, thermal paths, sealed compartments, or controls. The installed orientation, temperature cycle, humidity, and electronics heat load are needed for design decisions.

How do you avoid galvanic corrosion?+

Review dissimilar-metal contacts, fasteners, drainage paths, coatings, isolation materials, and damaged-edge exposure as one system. The final solution depends on the environment and service life.

What traceability can be provided for energy equipment parts?+

Possible records include material certificates, heat or batch identification, coating records, weld and dimensional inspection, hardware records, and test reports. Confirm the required package during quotation.

How are cut edges and welds protected for outdoor service?+

The finish plan should address sharp edges, heat-affected areas, seams, drainage, exposed zinc, and coating access. Depending on the substrate and environment, the route may include edge preparation, zinc-rich repair, seam sealing, pretreatment, or a duplex coating system.

Customer Perspective

Trust is earned in the next order

B2B customers often give brief, practical feedback and show their trust through the next project.

Full production programs, repeat orders, and multi-year supply — not one-off samples. References available for your sector on request.

Trust shown through repeat work

In contract manufacturing, the clearest reward is often another drawing, another production order, or a larger scope.

Confidential by default

We do not publish a customer's name, product, drawing or project details without written permission. That is not a lack of proof - it is how contract manufacturing works, and it is the same discretion we apply to your designs.
